Look Up Child

Most often I listen to music as I paint. Sometimes I listen to podcasts and sometimes I like silence so I might ponder. Painting gives me time to connect to heaven and keep my anxiety in check. I often wonder as I paint certain paintings if someone would purchase the painting and the reasons why. What draws them to the painting and what does it mean to them?
This painting began when I listened to the song, Look Up Child by Lauren Daigle. If you haven't heard the song, look her up! Over the last couple years her songs and her voice have become my go to music when I'm needing my thoughts to stay on heavenly things. As I listened to this song the image of a child throwing back their arms, reaching to God, and opening their hearts for truths to be taught. The light (which is colorful) is pouring down upon the child with great abundance. That is how I want to be. I want to be like a child; meek, teachable, believing, and open to truths of all kinds. That is how we are asked to be.

As always, thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great day filled with light!

Trying to catch up!

Remembering and making the time to post to all my sight/social media pages isn't top on my list of fun things. I'd sure love to just spend my time with family and paint. And paint some more. But, I must share! Right! Plus it wouldn't help my goal any if I didn't. So, I'm basically going to throw-up all over this page with pics of all my artwork I haven't yet posted. It might take more than one post. We'll see. I may also have shared some of these on here, but I'm too lazy to go check :)
Also, if you can't find some of these on my Etsy page (my etsy page is ChristineWalterArt) it's because I have them displayed and for sale in other places. Email me if you have questions! qrissyw@gmail.com

Keep on the sunny side

There are dark days. There are days in an artists journey when things don't go as they hope.
Even as I write this I struggle with giving up. A lot of what I feared with opening my art to the world is happening and it's difficult to want to keep going.
BUT, I look at my works of art and think of what they represent. They all have a meaning to me. Like the one below is a reminder of the Lord's covenant with Noah, that it is a promise of good days, of peace.
So I will keep going. I will try to keep on the sunny side.

Harry Potter Post

Harry Potter fans might want to pay attention to these next few paintings.
Hogwarts houses are the all the talk with my children lately. My kids believe everyone should find out what Hogwarts house they belong to, even if they don't care much about Harry Potter (yes, I'm speaking of my husband. My kids thinks it's shameful).
To please my children I came up with these paintings of Hogwarts house representatives...

Some of my favorites...

I love these next few paintings. So much so I think I'll cry when I have to say goodbye to them.
This first one was the first I tried by combining your typical brush acrylic painting with an acrylic pour painting technique. Once I found how fun it was my mind went one hundred miles an hour with ideas. I've still got plenty, but I can't keep up!
When I painted "Old Man" I kept singing "Old Man" by Neil Young. I'm singing it now. :)

11x14 "Old Man"

This one makes me laugh because I can't help but think of the selfies girls take of them when they wake up, fix their hair and makeup then take the pic with the caption, "I just woke up like this!"
This young lady didn't have such luck with her hair!

16x20 "I Just Woke Up Like This"

The idea of Mother Earth parading around in human form has always been racing around in my imagination. I wonder at times what she might say to those who live upon her. Probably not very nice things. This version of Mother Earth wears a robe of oceans upon her shoulders which crashes upon her hair of earth and elements. I love this one!

How many people out there would love to have color pour down upon them?
No?
Just me?
Well, this is what it might look like...

24x30 "Rain Down On Me"

That's it for today! I hope you all have enjoyed seeing my art and please post a comment and share with your friends!
Take care!

Elements

When I paint I take from life around me and see what I can create. Everything inspires. Sometimes the ideas come from nature, and sometimes from the coolest cartoons ever created!
Avatar! The Last Airbender!!

Water (11x14)

Earth (11x14)

Fire (11x14)

Wind (11x14)

I think Aang would approve, don't you?

Anyway, continuing on... I've painted several that come from fire and water. I think the reason why I love fire and water the most is because of light. Light reflects off water so beautifully it's hypnotizing. And how many of us love staring at a campfire? Light is attractive. Even for bugs.

"On Fire" 8x10

"Yep it's Blue" 8x10

"It's Warm In Here" 8x10

"Black Ocean" 11x14

"Blue Rain" 11x14

"Fire Starter" 16x20

"Ice Water" 11x14

"Splash" 11x14

"Clear" 18x24

And last but not least...

"Opposites" 12x24

I hope you are enjoying the paintings. Please return and I'll keep posting.
