You may look at this and wonder what on earth is sticking out of his mouth.

This is drawn from a photo I took of a carving on a wall that sat in the courtyard at the Vatican Museum in Italy.

The man's lips have deteriorated and part of his beard has fallen off. In his mouth is a faucet with water trickling from it into a small bird bath below.

I don't think he looks happy.
